"We all come from that holocaust"

It was him finally accepting his "Haida-ness" after denying that fact for so many years, most of his life. It’s still occurring. When I first met him, when I first started singing songs he’d have all kinds of sarcastic remarks about it. But then, it became more and more like he started to accept it. It’s a process. We’re all in the same boat, we all come from that holocaust. We are the survivors of it and it does take a while for trust to happen after being let down so many times. And one time my grandmother gave him a Haida name and he was really proud of it. And you know, that’s saying something.
